A New Feature: Hello everyone. I’ll try and keep this brief. I am adding a new feature to my blog. This feature includes an awesome battle between the two sides I pitted against one another in the last post. I hope it entertains you. Without further ado I give you the Epic Duel: Twilight vs. Hunger Games…

Belle: I’d not ever devoted lots of contemplation to what way I would perish. But now standing behind my friend JakeAbs, with my boyfriend Ed lying on the loamy soil in pain beside me, I finally have. It sounds kind of nice. Because hopefully Ed will finally relent and give me what I want….a chance to shine.

It all started on the way to Port Angeles from Forks. We were riding in my Chevy truck because JakeAbs couldn’t stand to ride in Ed’s silver Volvo S60 R and Ed said riding JakeAbs motorcycles would be too dangerous.

I rolled my eyes and sighed when, 30 minutes into the ride, JakeAbs said from the driver’s seat, “Belle, you only like him because he’s rich.” JakeAbs would never understand me or what I wanted. That was why I liked him. Continue reading →

What’s More Awseome: Hunger Games vs. Twilight

You Decide!

Why? There are two movie/book phenomena have swept the nation in the last few years. These are the Twilight Saga and the Hunger Games Trilogy. I have one reason for bringing these two fandoms together… We’re going to find out which is more Awesome!

Hunger Games’ Strengths: The story involves teenagers killing each other for our entertainment. We as readers are treated to being just like the Capitol. We love the violence and seeing the forced romance unfold between Katniss and Peeta(Makes one pause to think, we as readers hate the capitol so much but we’re just like them). Tasty foods are described in the book. That’s always a plus. Medieval weapons such as swords, bows and arrows, clubs, knives, spears, and tridents also add to the Awesomeness of this series.

Twilight Strengths: It’s about vampires and werewolves. That’s an immediate plus. It’s the second best romance I’ve ever watched. (Let’s keep in mind I haven’t watched very many romances. It beat out My Big Fat Greek Wedding but lost miserably to Letters to Juliet) And…. Sadly, I am unable to think of anything else good to say about the Twilight series. Continue reading →

God’s promise was fulfilled that day. The gift of a right standing before God and our spirits being made alive in Him! Merry Christmas everyone!

The Vampire: The full moon rises high in the black sky. The meadow, nestled against a cliff, deep in the woods is silent. The Werewolf bears its fangs, a low earthly growl ripples from its throat. The Vampire smiles. She knows she is more than a match for the brutish wolf. It has been terrorizing her small town for the past week and causing quite an uproar. Its actions have caused the locals to start asking questions. Questions that have ruined her fun. Worst of all, she doesn’t know where it came from.

She blinks and the beast is upon her. Its death bearing mouth snaps shut above her shoulder where her head had been a microsecond before. The long sharp claws come in low. She notices it too late. The Vampire leaps backward finding her side cut and bleeding. Continue reading →

The Bloody History: One of the first charismatic and sophisticated Vampire novels of modern fiction was written in 1819 with the publication of The Vampyre by John Polidori. Bisclavret by poet Marie de France One of the earlier popular Werewolf tales came out in the 17th Century. The first Vampire legend dates back to… Well the legend has been around for a while as has the first Werewolf legends. Most of the legends referred to not the modern Vampire or Werewolf, but demons or spirits that drank blood and had the ability to shape shift. Regardless of where the legends came from the point is these species have been dueling it out for our blood for a long time. How I know it would go down: A single Cyclops against a single werewolf would yield the Cyclops coming out on top.

We both know that this depends a lot on the size of the Cyclops and how many werewolves there are. I mean most modern werewolves hunt in packs. Let us define some parameters.

Beast Wars vs. Transformers: What’s More Awesome!

What’s More Awesome? Beast Wars vs. Transformers. You Decide!

What do I think? Alright. I know that these are both from the same universe. But Beast Wars Rocks!

 For those of you who don’t know, Beast Wars Transformers was a series that came out September 16, 1996. I didn’t watch the series until the episodes were re-airing daily. The series was about the future of Autobot and Decepticon kind. After the end of the Great War, the Autobots and Decepticons had peace. Then came the Great Upgrade from Autobot to Maximal and from Decepticon to Predacon.

Optimus Primal, a descendant of Optimus Prime leads a team of Maximals in a chase after Megatron (not the original) and his Predacons. They all end up on a strange planet that looks a lot like a prehistoric earth. Some of the most awesome battles and adventures ever created for television are in this series. For the year that these were made the CGI was really exceptional.

Unfortunately I have never had the privilege of watching Transformers G1. So this comparison is between Beast Wars and the most recent Transformer movies. Lets run a few comparisons through. Continue reading →

Star Wars vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/TMNT: What’s More Awesome!

What’s More Awesome? Star Wars vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Or if you prefer the short version, TMNT: You Decide!

What do I think? Wow. I have to lean toward, Both. I know that’s dumb but I can’t pick. I like them too much.

My Reasoning: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has had some awesome movies. The movie in 2007 was a little dry in my opinion but none the less a very cool franchise. Star Wars has had very awesome films as well. Epic each one. But TMNT has a lot of nostalgia for me to go along with it. Each franchise is so much more than the movies though. It is the TV series for the turtles that I love and the books for Star Wars.

DC vs. Marvel: What’s More Awesome!

What’s More Awesome? DC VS Marvel. You Decide!

Until someone actually comments I’ll just have fun having my say. 🙂 : Marvel beats out DC.

My Reasoning: Marvel universe, general feel to the neophyte, sunny, fun, awesome! DC universe, general feel to the neophyte, dark, realistic, awesome.

My favorite characters in the DC universe include: Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, and… Well my favorite characters in the Marvel universe include: Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Jean Grey(Phoenix), Cyclops, Spiderman, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Guardian, and I can’ think of any more right now. As you can see I am fairly biased when it comes to these things. 🙂

Without going too deep into the many different story arcs and characters of each universe, Marvel often seems more lighthearted. The writers most commonly try to include some form of humor in their work. DC, I think tries too hard to make their characters believable. Too hard to make their characters human. Their worlds come off dark and confusing to me.

So that is my idea. As for an all out battle between the heroes and villains in each universe we will turn to some awesome art. Special thanks to the Deviant artists: bennyfuentes, Julius Abrera, and taresh for letting me use their art. I appreciate it.

Finally: Do you have a favorite character in each universe? Right now I like Batman best in DC and Guardian best in Marvel.
